For light measurement, the F5 has a standard center-weighted meter (of course), a spot meter (with 5 selectable spots), and a mind boggling 1005 pixel matrix meter that works in three colors (RGB) and compares its measurements against an on-camera data base of 30,000 images before deciding on an optimum exposure. No small feat when you consider that both the autofocus and the sophisticated metering system can keep up with the F5's blindingly fast 8 frames-per-second motor drive. The Nikon F5 is not just technologically sophisticated, this camera was designed to be held and used. You'll find that whether it is being held horizontally or vertically, the F5 is extremely well-balanced. And finally, with all of its available lenses and accessories, such as the (optional) Photo Secretary computer link software, the F5 has the kind of system integrity to which no other 35mm SLR camera system can be compared.
